Two days of October in the scientific conference “PRIMUS NONOCERE … HIPPOCRATES” (“The most important is not to harm … Hippocrates”) organized by Society of Dentists were dedicated to the dentists and their discussions for the best solutions in their practise.

PhD Oral&Maxillofacial surgeon Dainius Razukevičius, who specializes in TMJ treatment. lectured on TMJ treatment theme with a lecture “TMJ Dysfunction. When is Surgical Consultation and Treatment Needed? ”

The muscles controlling the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are attached to the mandible and allow the jaw to move in three directions: up and down, side to side, and forward and back.

The combination of synchronized as well as three-dimensional movements of the paired joints distinguishes them as the most complicated joints in the body.

The symptoms, that are mentioned the most often by patients with TMD are the following: pain in jaw sphere, limited movement or locking of the jaw, painful clicking, popping or grating in the jaw joint when opening or closing the mouth, ear pain, a bite that feels “off”, etc.
