Jaw exostoses are benign bone outgrows.
They grow very slowly, are asymptomatic, and the patient may not even feel anything. Most often, exostosis grows on the lower or upper jaw, in rare cases, it can grow in the palate.
Over time, this exostosis increases, resulting in discomfort for the patient or prevention of wearing comfortable and proper removable dentures.
Pressure ulcer forms in the place of the bone outgrows, the prosthesis to avoid it looks unattractive, unsightly, and does not perform its functions.
This is the main reason why it is advisable to remove bone outgrows (exostoses).
Exostosis bone removal is a surgery during which these outgrows are removed, levelled and the uniformity is ensured to the jaw area.
The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia and usually does not cause major postoperative complaints.
