Side adjustable bone regeneration in implantology
Human jaw anatomical structure, function and physiology are interrelated. Human masticatory muscle force over the teeth, and periodontal is passed to the bone tissue surrounding and supporting the teeth roots.
In case of loss of teeth, the bone tissue fails to perform its supporting functions resulting in faster alveolar resorption process. This resorption is often even greater because of rough, traumatic tooth extraction, chronic inflammations.
Side adjustable bone regeneration techniques can be used to restore maxillary bony defects, function and aesthetics.
Special membranes and bone grafts or bone substitutes are used to fill the augmentation area’s.
These bone substitutes are divided into:
- specially prepared another person’s bone;
- specially prepared animal bone;
- natural biological substances;
- synthetic biological substances;
At present, the global market offers many materials for regulated bone regeneration, but it is very important to select the appropriate membranes, bone substitutes, and to choose the appropriate operating techniques for the reconstruction of bone defect during implantation.
When there is a small bone tissue resorption, it is possible to perform the implantation with immediate bone tissue reconstruction.
Such reconstruction is usually performed with the lack of 1-3 mm of bone width.
In case of larger bone defects, especially mutual bone resorption of the alveolus, bone tissue reconstruction with bone autograft is often indicated.

Implantation is not possible due to high bone tissue resorption:
